Instrument transformer diagnostics

Instrument transformer diagnostics, or the assessment of the insulation condition of instrument transformers, include measuring insulation resistance, capacitance and tanδ of the insulation, partial discharge measurements (ultrasound), and accuracy class verification for voltage transformers up to 110 kV and current transformers up to 2000 A.

High voltage circuit breaker diagnostics

High voltage circuit breakers are a critical component in power systems. Their proper operation under all conditions, especially during short-circuit current interruptions, is crucial for the reliable performance of the entire power system.

During operation, high voltage circuit breakers are subjected to various stresses. These stresses can be electrical (interrupting fault currents, switching and atmospheric surge voltages, etc.), mechanical (forces during switching, electrodynamic forces, short-circuit currents, wind, etc.), thermal (ambient temperature, heating due to nominal current, fault current, etc.), or chemical (decomposition products of gas due to electric arcs, dust, moisture, etc.).

Diagnostic tests are performed to detect the presence of faults, determine the nature and extent of faults, establish maintenance intervals (longer intervals for good condition, shorter intervals for poor condition), and carry out preventive corrective actions on similar equipment.

High voltage circuit breaker diagnostics include testing of operating times, measurement of current and voltage in closing and trip coils, measurement of contact speed, measurement of the resistance of the main current circuits, assessment of gas quality, and verification of interlocks.

High-voltage switchgear diagnostics

Power and instrument transformers, along with circuit breakers, are indispensable parts of any high-voltage switchgear, and their preventive diagnostics and maintenance are essential prerequisites for reliable operation.

The increasing demands for electricity delivery have shortened the available time for diagnostics and maintenance of HV equipment. Simultaneous diagnostics of transformers and circuit breakers can significantly reduce the downtime of individual parts of high-voltage switchgear.

By combining diagnostics of transformers and circuit breakers, we provide our partners with time and cost savings, simultaneous insights into the condition of multiple critical components, and the ability to better plan equipment maintenance.
