A landmark breakthrough in the field of high-voltage testing

The construction and commissioning of the Laboratory for Power Systems and Drives significantly upgrades the testing capabilities of KONČAR's Laboratory Center, particularly in the field of high-voltage testing.

The new Laboratory incorporates advanced technical features and state-of-the-art testing and measurement equipment. It is one of a handful laboratories worldwide offering HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current) testing of equipment with rated voltages up to 800 kV and high-voltage HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) cables for direct energy transmission with rated voltages up to 640 kV.

We have carried out thermal stability testing of an 800 kV oil-SF6 transformer conductor for a long-standing customer from Sweden. This complex testing assesses the integrity of the insulation system under extreme conditions, including maximum transformer oil temperature, maximum load current losses, and maximum dielectric losses. The 800 kV thermal stability testing represents a landmark breakthrough and a valuable reference for our Laboratory Center, enhancing its global recognition.

The Laboratory Center is accredited according to the requirements of HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025 for more than 700 testing methods in the fields of power engineering, industry, rail vehicles and infrastructure, in compliance with international standards and technical specifications.
