The VCU can operate as a single control unit or in a redundant configuration with two separate units, ensuring operational continuity even in the event of a failure. 

This system communicates with and controls all subordinate computers and embedded systems distributed throughout the rail vehicle, handling tasks such as control, measurement, sequencing, protection, supervision, and communication. Each vehicle can be equipped with two main control units, where each unit is active when its corresponding cabin is in use, providing redundancy in case of a malfunction.
