Train Control and Management System (TCMS)

KONČAR TCMS (Train Control and Management System) is an advanced hardware and software solution designed for the control and monitoring of rail vehicles. Engineered as a modular system, it is easily adaptable to the specific requirements of individual customers. This modularity enables its installation in various types of rail vehicles, including trams, EMUs, DEMUs and locomotives.

The in-vehicle communication structure relies on interfaces such as CAN (Controller Area Network), RS 485, Ethernet, or MVB (Multifunction Vehicle Bus), ensuring flawless communication between all systems within the vehicle. Depending on the vehicle type and its requirements, WTB (Wired Train Bus) communication interfaces are also employed for communication between connected vehicles in a train set.

The TCMS is uniquely positioned in the market as it is fully compatible with the modernization of older vehicles, such as diode or thyristor locomotives. We collaborate effectively with system integrators to prepare these older locomotives for an additional 20-30 years of service. Post-modernization, these locomotives are equipped with advanced digital control systems and high-resolution Human-Machine Interface (HMI) displays.

Over the past decades, we have successfully delivered TCMS systems for more than 400 rail vehicles.

Key components of the TCMS include: VCU (Vehicle Control Unit): The primary control computer for the rail vehicle. ICNT (Driver's Control Unit): The computer system for the driver’s cabin. KonHMI (Human-Machine Interface): The interface between the operator and the machine, featuring high-resolution displays. EMS (Energy Management System): The system for measuring electrical energy consumption.
